Healthcare Employees Acting at Resurrection Together (HEART) is a committee of Resurrection employees working to have a voice at work to improve patient care. HEART has been working in tandem with community leaders and Catholic and interfaith clergy, are to bring the Resurrection Health Care (RHC) system home to its original mission of quality care of the sick and a fair and just workplace for employees.
HEART is made up of employees from all six RHC hospitals, from nearly every department and job classification. Since founding HEART in 2003, these employees have risked harassment and even termination to have a real voice on the job.
The HEART committee began organizing a union with the American Federation of State, County, and Municipal Employees (AFSCME) Council 31, in order to create a workplace where they can deliver the high quality of care they're capable of.
