Dear Fellow OLR RN,
We are RNs who are deeply committed to providing the highest level of quality care at Our Lady of the Resurrection Medical Center. We are forming a union with AFSCME Council 31 to ensure patient care is the top priority of OLR. Working together, we believe we can build a vibrant and successful hospital.
Each and every day OLR management makes decisions that focus resources away from the bedside. Despite our efforts, our voices are not heard or heeded. It's time for that to change. By organizing with AFSCME Council 31, we will negotiate - as equals - our wages, benefits and work rules. Only then, will we be able to effectively advocate for our patients and our profession.
We urge management not to waste precious resources opposing us as we form our union. On repeated occasions, Resurrection administrators have stated that the decision to form a union should be made by employees. We call on the administration to respect us and this process and focus resources on providing quality care, not on attempting to create an environment of fear and misinformation. It is, after all, our decision and ours alone.
With AFSCME Council 31, we will have the ability to shape the future of patient care and the nursing profession at OLR. With our union we will have direct participation in the important decisions necessary to providing the safest and best patient care possible. The first step to standing up for patient care and having our voices heard is to sign a union card. Signing a card means you support our union and will vote yes when election-day arrives.
We urge you to join us!
